A caffeine-free ‘Root coffee’ and tonic drink. A coffee alternative if you will. Unlike coffee which is made from a roasted berry, Roots cafe is made from roasted roots of plants and mushrooms, offering a similar earthy depth and flavour, with a pinch of cardamon, how coffee is drunk traditionally, parfait. This powder can be brewed in a cafetiere, percolator, stove top, V60, or filter.

Key Benefits

Brew a microbiome-gut-friendly tonic drink full of prebiotic roots and mushrooms that have been carefully formulated by a Practitioner. Prebiotics are the food for probiotics (the bacteria in your gut). This is how we strengthen, feed, and harmonise our microbiome. Corrects dysbiosis and clears toxins ‘ama’ from the gut. Supports the liver in detoxification and supports the clearance of acne. Removes excess ‘pitta’ from the body. Supports the immune system. Build resilience to stress by regulating the HPA axis

Pregnancy Benefits

https://www.artahealing.com/about-emma-marigoldhttps://www.artahealing.com/about-emma-marigoldhttps://www.artahealing.com/about-emma-marigoldThe herbs in this formula were inspired by people who cannot have caffeine, especially pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. To date, there is no research to suggest any toxicity and pregnancy with these herbs and mushrooms. Reishi is the third ingredient in Roots Cafe. Traditionally there is a saying ‘reishi baby’ in which the mushroom provides an anchor for mothers during pregnancy, as well as during birth. There is little peer-reviewed research available on the use of medicinal mushrooms during pregnancy and because these herbs and mushrooms involve changes in immune function, it is best to proceed with care. Always work with your instincts, go slow and work with a practitioner if you are unsure.

The Ritual

  • Add 1 tsp to a cafetière & add 200ml of hot water (1 cup) and infuse for 5 minutes or add 1 tsp to a pour-over coffee filter (v60) & add 200ml of hot water (1 cup).
  • For a stronger espresso style add 2 teaspoons. The longer you infuse the stronger the taste.

  • Drink 1-2 cups a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

Additional ways to use Roots Cafe

Try iced? Make your Roots Cafe, let it cool, add ice & cold milk to a glass, and pour over Roots Cafe.

I've found my coffee replacement!!!

Originally posted on the Lady Apothecary store. Thank you so much for creating this!! I have been addicted to coffee for years! and ROOTS CAFE has helped me so much! I will never give up coffee for good, but i have considerably cut down my intake from 5 espressos a day to 1! Which is remarkable for me as an Italian. I love offering ROOTS CAFE to my guests after dinner as an alternative and they love it! No caffeine but feels dark, bitter and earthy like coffee, perfect to end the party!

Roots cafe is healing

Originally posted on the Lady Apothecary store. I’ve nearly finished my first jar of Roots cafe and will definitely be repurchasing. Combined with other things and techniques in my life I can say I feel healthier than I did before I started drinking this, and the proof is definitely in the pudding as I’ve not caught 2-3 colds that have been passed around in my household. I have mine with 1/4 of a teaspoon of chocolate milkshake powder for sweetness, and it’s become a delicious part of my morning ritual. The cardamom adds a delicious deep flavour, and I know my gut bacteria are loving the dandelion root as a prebiotic. I also feel more connected to chaga fungus after this. The quality of the ingredients is very evident. So nourishing!!

Delicious!

Originally posted on the Lady Apothecary store. I've been enjoying Roots Cafe as an afternoon drink instead of tea for a few weeks now, and I look forward to it every day. It has a lovely, well-rounded taste to it that is easy to drink (I like it best with plenty of oat milk!). The fact that it's full of wonderful nourishing roots is an added bonus!
