Obsidian, formed from volcanic glass as lava hardens, is a stone with strong magical associations. Highly polished stones were used by the Mayans and Aztecs as oracle mirrors. A personal and protective stone, it should be held only by the keeper or wearer. Obsidian is believed to soothe irritability and restlessness.
