A vintage leather handbag, reworked by hand in the studio with a spiral of silver-tone studs.
Each piece is sourced second-hand and altered individually, giving new life to an object that has already been carried, used and shaped by time. The spiral is set by hand, a form that appears often in the studio’s work, a reminder of movement, return and growth.
Because these bags are vintage, gentle signs of wear may be visible in the leather, inner lining or hardware. All pieces remain fully functional. These marks are part of the object’s history rather than flaws, and contribute to the character of the piece.
Each bag is one of a kind. Once sold, it will not be repeated.
About this piece
Vintage very dark brown/ black leather handbag with a softly structured shape and subtle, natural wear.
Reworked in the studio with a hand-set spiral of silver-tone studs across the front panel, creating a gentle contrast against the deep brown leather.
Designed with longer, slim straps for comfortable shoulder wear. Features a hidden side zip pocket, a reinforced base, two internal sections secured with popper closures and one zipped section, along with an additional internal zipped pocket for organisation. Light fading to the corners and other signs of wear are visible, consistent with the age of the piece.
Approximate size (main body): 25 × 27 cm
Strap length: approx. 64 cm
Sourced vintage and reworked by hand in the London studio.
A return to making
This collection sits within a wider return to craft for me. This year my focus has shifted toward making with hands rather than screens, toward time, material and repetition. I'm interested in working with existing objects and giving them a second life, altering them slowly by hand rather than producing something new. These bags are part of that movement back toward the analogue.
Care
This is a vintage piece designed to continue its life in use. Over time the leather will soften and deepen in character. If desired, occasional conditioning with a leather balm will help keep the material supple.
